This course studies the climate crisis through a "solutions" lens by focusing on the societal actions, technological changes, and political leadership needed to adequately address the challenges presented by a changing global climate. Extensive time will be spent analyzing a variety of technical solutions, including clean energy, climate-smart agriculture, electrification, and transportation innovations, in addition to adaptation efforts and geoengineering options. The course also analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities presented by global multilateral agreements, as well as positive and negative examples of global climate leadership. By the end of the course, students are challenged to develop their own suite of recommendations for how the global community might make meaningful progress on climate change.
